GOVERNOR BUNI INAUGURATES YOROTA, 20 BUSES FOR YOBE LINE

Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe state has inaugurated the Yobe state Road Traffick Management Agency with manpower strength of two hundred and fifty Marshalls to address the rise in road Accidents in the state.

The Yobe state Road Traffic Management Agency YOROTA was established last year with a view to complement the activities of sister agencies in traffic control, improve security and enhance revenue generation.

At the inauguration of the agency, Governor Mai Mala Buni said ,Yobe state government has also procured equipment and operational vehicles as well as motorcycles worth over one hundred million naira for the agency to ensure successful take off
“I will like to enjoy the YOROTA Marshalls to abide by the ethics of service as provided for edict of its establishment. They should be civil and maintain discipline while conducting their duties, prevent blockage of roads especially in densely populated areas or centers of business and ensure that motorists observe traffic rules and regulations in the state”

The Governor further challenged the agency to make good use of the equipment provided to ensure free flow of traffic and to encourage good driving culture among people of the state.

“Motorists are here by to always observe traffic laws, reduce speed, avoid overloading, ensure that their vehicles are always in good condition to be on the road and cooperate with the road traffic safety agencies on the road”

The governor equality inaugurated another twenty Toyota eighteen seater buses procured at the cost of over five hundred million naira for the state owned transport company known as Yobe line to boost their operations

In a welcome address, the Yobe state commissioner for Transport and Energy Alhaji Abdullahi Usman Kukuwa explained that, the gesture by Governor Buni would not only boost the transport sector but also create job opportunities and enhance security across the state.
” I will like crave your Excellency’s kind indulgence for the provision of the following: renovation of Yobe line workshop and the recruitment of additional 1500 Marshalls for YOROTA”

In an interview with Radio Nigeria, the Corp commandant and General Manager of the Yobe state Road Traffic Management Agency Babagana Alhaji Modu Goneri said they have successfully registered all commercial vehicles and tricycles for easy tracing in the event of any security bridge in addition to generating over thirty million naira as revenue for the state within few months.

” since the creation of this agency, we have been collaborating with our media stations to enlighten the general public on traffic rules and the provision of 24 hours toll numbers for emergency response within the state”

The corp commandant therefore appealed to all road users to cooperate with the agency to achieve its mandate.
