Kano state hisbah board has expressed readiness to work hand in hand with Garun Malam local government council to eradicate drug pushing, prostitution and other societal vices at Kwanar Gafan vegetable market in Garun Malam local government area.
Commander General of the Kano hisbah board Sheikh Harun Muhammad Sani Ibn Sina stated this while recieving chairman of Garun Malam local government area, Alhaji Mudassir Aliyu in his office.
According to him, the agency will set up a committee comprising of hisbah personnel,market leaders and members of the local government council, to bring an end to criminal activities in the market.
Sheikh Dr. Harun Muhammad Sani Ibn Sina explained that some unpatriotic Nigerians have turned the vegetable market into their meeting points where they engage in all forms of illicit activities.
Earlier in his remarks, the executive chairman of Garun Malam local government area Alhaji Mudassir Aliyu reaffirmed his administrations commitment in boosting the economy through commercial activities.
He described Kwanar Gafan vegetable market as a commercial nerve center that has contributed immensely to the development of the state and reducing unemployment.
Alhaji Mudassir Aliyu decried over rising cases of drug pushing and abuse, prostitution and other illicit acts capable of promoting criminal activities within the market.
He urged wealthy individuals and philanthropists to contribute their quota through setting up businesses at the market which will go a long way in curtailing the deadly menace.
Radio Nigeria recalls that, National drug law enforcement agency,Hisbah and other relevant security agencies had often raided Kwanar Gafan vegetable market to get rid of drug pushers,prostitutes and criminals based in the market .
