The Yobe State Government has constructed 225 kilometres of county roads under the first phase of Governor Mai Mala Buni\u2019s infrastructural development program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This was disclosed by the Commissioner for Works, Engr. Umaru Wakili, during a review meeting at his office in Damaturu, the state capital.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Engr. Wakili highlighted that Governor Buni\u2019s administration has invested heavily in constructing new county and semi-urban roads, as well as drainage systems in Damaturu and major towns, including Potiskum, Nguru, Gashua, Geidam, and Buni Yadi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“These projects aim to facilitate the smooth movement of goods and services from rural areas to urban centres while also curbing rural-to-urban migration and reducing congestion in cities.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He further emphasized that improved road networks would open up both rural and urban communities, attracting foreign investments and accelerating the state\u2019s economic growth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Engr. Wakili said the Buni administration had completed 80 kilometres of township roads and 160 kilometres of drainage systems in key towns.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“Additionally, 196 kilometres of roads across the state have been rehabilitated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“Furthermore, the government has undertaken the construction of 22 kilometres of semi-urban roads and 44 kilometres of drainage systems across the 17 local government areas of the state.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Commending Governor Buni\u2019s efforts, Engr. Wakili described the projects as capital-intensive but crucial for transforming the state.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
