The commencement of Ramadan fasting has brought a welcome relief to residents of Kano, as prices of food items have decreased across several markets in the state.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A visit to Singa Market revealed a significant drop in prices of essential commodities, including rice, beans, spaghetti, vegetable oil, sugar, and other food items.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Consumers at the market expressed their satisfaction with the price reduction, noting that it has made it easier for them to purchase essential food items during the Ramadan fasting period.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
However, some consumers, including Muhammad Adam Abubakar, a family man, and Aminu Dalhatu, a civil servant, observed that while prices have decreased at the markets, vendors and traders at neighborhood markets have yet to implement these reductions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Speaking to Radio Nigeria, the chairman Singa Market traders association Alhaji Musa Ibrahim Na Banki Dan Gaske highlighted that, since the commencement of the 2025 Ramadan fasting price of commodities have continued to go down.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He noted that rice ,beans ,flour , vegetable oil, sugar, salt, seasoning cubes and other commodities are sold at a lower price compared to last year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The chairman stressed that, as business owners the Ramadan period has come with a blessing due to reduction on the price of commodities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A bag of foreign rice sold at N120,000, now crashed to less than N80,000, and spaghetti which was sold at N20,000 is now selling at N14,000<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cEven flour that was sold at N90,000, is now selling in the markets at about N70,000 while 50kg oil that was sold at almost a N100,000 is now selling at N70,000 while flour is now less than N70,000,\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Alhaji Musa urged neighborhood markets and traders to reflect the current price reduction on their goods to alleviate suffering.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Radio Nigeria reports that, in preparation for the Ramadan fasting period, a special Ramadan fair was organized to reduce the prices of essential food items and ease the financial burden on residents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The initiative, spearheaded by market association chairmen with support from the Kano State government, aims to address the rising cost of staple foods and provide relief to households in Kano.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
