The Aminu Kano Centre for Democratic Studies, Bayero University, Kano (BUK), has organized the 23rd Annual Symposium in commemoration of the 42nd anniversary of the death of Mallam Aminu Kano.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In his remarks, the Vice-Chancellor, Bayero University, Professor Sagir Adamu Abbas, emphasized the importance of the annual event in preserving the ideals for which Mallam Aminu Kano stood.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Academic Services, Professor Haruna Musa, noted that that the series of lectures are intended to offer intellectual engagement rooted in historical context.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cAs part of our university\u2019s continuous effort to strengthen Nigeria\u2019s democratic culture, we invite notable individuals every year to deliver lectures at Mambayya House on topics of national significance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Kano state governor Alhaji Abba Kabiru Yusuf described Mallam Aminu Kano as a towering African revolutionary and a relentless political activist whose life continues to inspire generations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Represented by his deputy, Comrade Aminu Abdulsalam Gwarzo, he stressed that the theme of the symposium was apt due to the current situation in the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cMalam Aminu Kano is a true nationalist who should guide contemporary policy discussions\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In his keynote address, Professor Kabiru Isa Dandago presented a paper titled \u201cThe Politics of Tax Reforms in Nigeria: Expectations and Realities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Radio Nigeria report that the memorial symposium brought together academics, political figures, and civil society leaders to reflect on the life and legacy of the late nationalist, teacher, and revolutionary.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
