In a decisive enforcement action, the Kano State Censorship Board has suspended 22 Hausa film series for breaching regulatory protocols that mandate prior censorship approval before public distribution.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Executive Secretary of the Board, Abba El-Mustapha, issued the suspension directive following a management meeting and internal consultations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The suspension targets prominent titles including Labarina, Dadin Kowa, Dakin Amarya, Gidan Sarauta, and Manyan Mata.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to the Board\u2019s Information Officer, Abdullahi Sani Sulaiman, the affected series are:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Dakin Amarya,Mashahuri, Gidan Sarauta,Wasiyya, Tawakkaltu,Mijina,Wani Zamani,Labarina,Mallaka,Kudin Ruwa,Boka Ko Malam,Wayasan Gobe,Rana Dubu,Manyan Mata,Fatake,Garwashi,Jamilun Jiddan,Shahadar Nabila,Dadin Kowa,Tabarmar Kishiyata and Rigar Aro.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Board emphasized that all producers and stakeholders must comply with censorship laws regulating production, marketing, streaming, and broadcasting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cNon-compliance could result in legal consequences\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Producers of the affected films have been instructed to halt all forms of broadcast or streaming immediately and submit their content for censorship approval within a one-week window from Monday, May 19 to Monday, May 26, 2025 (note: the original statement mistakenly listed the end date as May 15).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Board also called on TV stations and the Nigerian Broadcasting Commission (NBC) to assist in enforcing these regulations, aligning with efforts to promote professionalism and growth in the Kannywood industry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
