In a bid to improve adolescent reproductive health in Adamawa State, UNICEF and the State Primary Healthcare Development Agency, through the platform of the EU-SARAH initiative, trained health workers in Yola, the Adamawa State capital, on adolescent and young people\u2019s health.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Health Officer at the UNICEF Bauchi Field Office, Oluseyi Olosunde, emphasized the need to prioritize the reproductive health of adolescents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He urged health workers in Adamawa State to be adolescent-friendly in order to achieve the desired outcomes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
On his part, the Executive Secretary of the Adamawa State Primary Healthcare Development Agency, Dr. Sulaiman Bashir, expressed concern over the rates of morbidity and mortality recorded in the state\u2019s health system due to poor nutrition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He urged participants to use their networks to improve the health and well-being of the people of Adamawa State.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Some of the participants at the training, Wakoji Reuben and Gideon Ayuba, promised to step down the knowledge gained for improved health services, especially for adolescents in the state.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The EU-SARAH initiative is a four-year project aimed at reaching 75,000 adolescents annually.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It also targets 2.4 million children under five, 279,995 pregnant and lactating mothers, and 175,000 indirect beneficiaries each year.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
