The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria NAHCON has expressed commitment towards providing vital healthcare services to Nigerian pilgrims performing this year\u2019s Hajj.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Head of Medical Mission in Madinah, Dr. Hamidu Muhammad Liman gave the commitment while speaking to a group of journalists including Globe FM Correspondent Mubarak Mahmood in his office.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Dr. Hamidu Liman who said a robust medical support system has been put in place, assured of the Commission\u2019s readiness to ensure the safety and well-being of all pilgrims.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He explained that two ambulances are currently on standby with emergency numbers available for quick response from the main clinic, in addition to two outpost clinics that are fully equipped to attend to pilgrims\u2019 health needs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Head of Medical mission revealed that most of the health issues being attended to, are primary healthcare cases like hypertension, diabetes, respiratory infections and digestive problems which are often linked to sudden changes in diet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Dr. Liman confirmed that no death has been recorded so far, saying that arrangements have been made with five partner hospitals in the Kingdom to provide secondary and tertiary care.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
On mental health issues, the Head of Medical mission noted that a team is ready to handle cases of fatigue and emotional stress with full support from the Commission.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Dr. Hamidu Liman further advised pilgrims to stay hydrated by drinking water regularly to protect themselves from the rising temperatures in the holy cities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
