{"id":1968,"date":"2025-06-29T11:07:41","date_gmt":"2025-06-29T11:07:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/radionigerianortheast.gov.ng\/?p=1968"},"modified":"2025-06-29T11:07:47","modified_gmt":"2025-06-29T11:07:47","slug":"self-care-disc-2-0-project-gains-momentum-among-bauchi-women","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/radionigerianortheast.gov.ng\/?p=1968","title":{"rendered":"Self-Care: DISC 2.0 Project Gains Momentum Among Bauchi Women"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Executive Chairman Bauchi State Primary Health Care Board Dr Rilwanu Mohammed.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">By Murtala Muhammad<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Bauchi State Government has expressed satisfaction that the self-injectable child birth spacing method will reduce side effects linked to various modern contraceptive options used by women.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Executive Chairman, Bauchi State Primary Health Care Board, Dr Rilwanu Mohammed, stated this at the biannual stakeholders\u2019 meeting of Society for Family Health\u2019s Delivering Innovation in Self-Care (DISC) 2.0 Project in Bauchi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Dr Mohammed described the method as a modern contraceptive that prevents unplanned pregnancies, enabling mothers to rest between births and adequately breastfeed their infants for healthier living.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He explained that the injection is administered quarterly, with the first dose by a trained health worker, while the remaining two are self-administered by the client.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Managing Director of Society for Family Health, Dr Omokhudu Idogho, said DISC 2.0 trained maternal and child health coordinators in empathy-based counselling and provided digital tools for ongoing mentorship.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Represented by National Coordinator, Social Behavioural Change, Michael Titus, Dr Idogho said DISC 2.0 project is gaining ground across twenty implementing local government areas of Bauchi State.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He assured of sustained provision of the commodity to help save more lives, especially among mothers in underserved communities within the state\u2019s health care delivery system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Dr Idogho appreciated the Bauchi State Government for creating an enabling environment for effective implementation of DISC 2.0 across the local government areas of the state.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Some of the clients who attended the meeting gave testimonies on the self-injectable child spacing method acknowledging its safety and efficiency.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Executive Chairman Bauchi State Primary Health Care Board Dr Rilwanu Mohammed.
