The Yobe State Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring accident-free roads across the state.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Sector Commander CC. Livinus Yihzoom, represented by State Corps Logistics Officer Mr. Danladi Idris, made the disclosure during a town hall meeting with transport sector stakeholders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The meeting aimed to enlighten tankers and heavy-duty truck drivers on safety tips and the dangers of over speeding, overloading, night driving, and drunk driving.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Mr. Yihzoom expressed concern over frequent explosions involving tankers and trailers, warning the public about the risks of looting crashed trucks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to him, over 300 drivers died in road-related crashes and fire outbreaks in 2024 alone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Borno\/Yobe Chairman, Petroleum Tanker Drivers Union (PTD) represented by its Auditor, Adamu S. Gaya, highlighted the risks of looting petrol tankers, citing over 500 lives lost in an incident that occurred along Kano-Jigawa Road.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Gaya noted that NUPENG-PTD organizes quarterly seminars for drivers and has rules to discipline errant drivers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Zonal Officer of the Federal Fire Service, M.B. Ibrahim, provided safety tips, including owning a valid fire extinguisher and using a mixture of water and detergent to put out fires.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The forum brought together stakeholders, including truck owners and security agencies, to promote road safety and prevent accidents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
