{"id":2265,"date":"2025-07-29T16:42:54","date_gmt":"2025-07-29T16:42:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/radionigerianortheast.gov.ng\/?p=2265"},"modified":"2025-07-29T16:42:58","modified_gmt":"2025-07-29T16:42:58","slug":"unicef-appoints-nigerias-new-country-representative","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/radionigerianortheast.gov.ng\/?p=2265","title":{"rendered":"UNICEF Appoints Nigeria&#8217;s New Country Representative."},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">By Murtala Muhammad<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">United Nations Children&#8217;s Fund (UNICEF) Nigeria has appointment of new Country Representative, Ms. Wafaa Saeed Abdelatef, with over twenty years experience in humanitarian and development expertise.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A statement issued on Tuesday says Ms. Wafaa Abdelatef, previously served as UNICEF Representative in Somalia, where she advanced children\u2019s rights in challenging conditions, which earned her widespread recognition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It states that her career includes senior roles with UN agencies such as Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), World Food Programmer (WFP), and UNICEF across Sudan, Pakistan, Syria, and Ethiopia as well as working in global offices in New York and Geneva.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to the statement, before joining the United Nations, Ms. Wafaa collaborated with Non Governmental Organisation (NGOs), academia, and the private sector in Sudan, covering displacement and environmental conservation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It discloses that Ms. Wafaa holds a Master\u2019s degree in Architecture from Belgium\u2019s Katholieke Universiteit Leuven and another Master\u2019s in Physical Planning from the University of Khartoum.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It expresses confidence that her strategic planning and programme management skills would drive progress in the ongoing efforts for full actualisation of children\u2019s rights in Nigeria.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">While welcoming Ms. Wafaa to the country, UNICEF Nigeria expresses confidence that her extensive experience and uncompromising dedication to humanitarian mission, will significantly contribute to Nigeria\u2019s progress towards achieving the well-being of every child.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Murtala Muhammad United Nations Children&#8217;s Fund (UNICEF) Nigeria has appointment of new Country Representative, Ms. Wafaa Saeed Abdelatef, with over twenty years experience in humanitarian and development expertise.
