The Bauchi State Agency for Sustainable Microfinance has officially adopted the Savings Groups Implementers Platform (SGIP)<\/em> as the primary implementation framework for its non-interest microcredit initiative\u2014a significant step toward enhancing financial inclusion in rural communities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The announcement was made during a five-day stakeholder workshop in Bauchi, organized in partnership with CARE Nigeria<\/em>, to review and finalize SGIP\u2019s operational guidelines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n SGIP<\/em>, established by CARE<\/em>, serves as a unified platform that integrates<\/p>\n\n\n\n Microfinance Institutions (MFIs), Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), and savings group networks. under a single structure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Its objective is to expand financial access through a structured, data-driven, and community-centered approach.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Previously, the Agency distributed loans indirectly through MFIs to Village Savings and Loans Associations (VSLAs)<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n While effective, this method faced challenges in scalability and coordination.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The SGIP model now introduces a centralized system<\/em>, enabling partner organizations to collaboratively manage loan disbursement, monitor progress, and track outcomes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Alhaji Nura Muhammad Danmadami<\/em>, Director General of the Agency, described the move as a \u201cturning point\u201d for the state\u2019s microfinance strategy. \u201cSGIP now serves as the backbone of our non-interest microcredit scheme, bringing together key players\u2014MFIs, CSOs, and savings groups\u2014into a cohesive, accountable structure with a shared vision,\u201d<\/em> he stated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Danmadami emphasized SGIP\u2019s adoption of the SAVIX Management Information System (MIS)<\/em> for real-time data reporting and decision-making.
