The Governor of Kano State, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has launched a Ready-to-Use Therapeutic Food (RUTF) program for malnourished children and distributed anti-malaria drugs to curb maternal mortality in the state.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The program, which was launched at Takai Local Government Area, is part of the state government’s efforts to improve the health and well-being of its citizens .<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Governor said that the program is aimed at addressing the rising number of malnutrition among children in the state.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He expressed gratitude to UNICEF for their support and commitment to assisting the children, especially those from vulnerable families across the state.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The RUTF program is part of a statewide reestablishment and reactivation of Comprehensive Management of Acute Malnutrition (CMAM) centers, which were abandoned and closed to almost zero level by the immediate past administration .<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Governor explained that through the collaboration of UNICEF, the state government has procured life-saving RUTF worth N1 billion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The food is meant for the benefits of all malnourished children in the state, and its distribution will be carefully monitored by the Ministry of Health and other stakeholders .<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Governor extended his special appreciation to UNICEF for their understanding, support, and commitment towards assisting the children, especially those from vulnerable families across the state.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He also thanked the organization’s management and staff for their efforts in improving the health and well-being of children in Kano State<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Commissioner for Health, Dr. Abubakar Labaran, expressed gratitude to the Governor for his support to the health sector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He highlighted some of the achievements of the administration, including,Improvement in healthcare services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Commissioner said that the Governor has succeeded in improving the health sector, providing healthcare services to the vulnerable ones through Kchma, children, pregnant women, elderly, and even prison inmates.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“Government has established the Kano Center for Disease Control, which is saddled with the responsibility of disease surveillance, detection, treatment, and response.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Commissioner added that there has been a tremendous improvement in immunization in Kano State through routine immunization revival and the support of all national immunization campaigns.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
” Government has been providing between 25,000 to 30,000 kits for women every month for free antenatal care.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
