The Bille community in Demsa Local Government Area has appealed to the Adamawa State House of Assembly and the State Government to ensure the full implementation of the Adamawa State District Creation (Repeal and Re-enactment) Law, 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Speaking on behalf of the community, the President of the Bille Youths Federation, Wilfred Jerimond, said several villages legally recognised under Bille and Dakusung districts in the 2024 law are yet to be formally integrated into their respective districts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The appeal focuses on the correction of what the community describes as \u201cdouble listings\u201d of some villages in official records a situation they say has delayed the proper administration of the areas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Over the years, the Bille community has sent letters and delegations to relevant authorities, with the most recent appeal made last year, but they say implementation has remained pending despite three separate legislative confirmations in 1992, 2022, and 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Among the villages listed under Bille District in state laws since 1992 are Kwana Two, Mararraban Bille, Tashan Gurgu, Dingle Kasa, and Kwaba.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The community notes that similar laws affecting other districts have been implemented promptly, while Bille has been waiting for over three decades.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Youth Federation also expressed concerns over recent security incidents, including an alleged July incursion by armed youths from a neighbouring community and a farmland dispute that led to the arrest of six Bille farmers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe are not asking for anything new only the implementation of what the law has already provided for. We want to live peacefully and develop our community in line with the law,\u201d Jerimond said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Bille Youths Federation is urging the Adamawa State House of Assembly to urgently address the double listing issue and direct the full enforcement of the 2024 District Creation Law.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
They reaffirmed the community\u2019s commitment to peaceful dialogue while stressing the importance of equitable implementation of local government laws across the state.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
