The Kano State Signage and Advertisement Agency (KASA) has announced an ambitious plan to generate N1.5 billion in revenue between September and December 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Director-General of the agency, Mr. Kabir Dakata, disclosed this while briefing newsmen on the agency\u2019s activities and prospects at Minjibir Park Kano.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He said the target will be achieved through effective regulation and monitoring of billboards, posters, street signage, and branded vehicles across the state.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cOur target from September to December is N1.5 billion, and we have mapped out strategies to ensure this is realised. Beyond that, we are projecting N3 billion in 2026 and N5 billion in 2027,\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Dakata explained that KASA was established to sanitise Kano\u2019s physical environment while boosting the government\u2019s revenue base in line with international best practices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Director General explained that the agency\u2019s mandate, covers the control and regulation of outdoor advertising, including billboards, branded vehicles, tricycles, delivery riders, roadshows, posters, and advertisements on shops or private premises.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cKASA will determine the number, size, and location of advertising structures, while also removing abandoned billboards that pose safety risks,\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He further stressed that all existing structures predating the law must be registered, inspected, and either approved, adjusted, or removed if they fail to meet stipulated standards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
To ensure transparency, Dakata revealed that all payments would be processed through the state\u2019s Centralised Billing System under the Kano Internal Revenue Service (KIRS), a move designed to block leakages and eliminate cash-based transactions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He urged stakeholders in the advertising sector to comply with the law, noting that many of them were part of the law\u2019s drafting process and were already conversant with similar frameworks in other states.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cAs the commercial hub of the North, Kano has the potential to harness the advertising sector as a significant source of revenue and driver of development,\u201d Dakata added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The DG assured that KASA\u2019s operations would not only focus on revenue generation but also on ensuring a more orderly, safe, and aesthetically pleasing outdoor advertising environment across the state.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
