The Zamfara State Government has dismissed as reckless and insensitive a statement credited to the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state, accusing Governor Dauda Lawal of \u201csabotaging\u201d efforts to tackle insecurity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In a statement, the State Commissioner for Information and Culture, Mahmud Muhammad Dantawasa, described the allegation as baseless and a sign of desperation by the APC.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Dantawasa explained that Governor Lawal only spoke the truth when he highlighted the painful reality that, like other states, Zamfara does not control security agencies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to him, soldiers, police, DSS, and others must obtain clearance from Abuja before taking action.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“The attention of the Zamfara State Government has been drawn to a reckless and insensitive statement credited to the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Zamfara, accusing Governor Dauda Lawal of \u201csabotaging\u201d efforts to tackle insecurity. This baseless allegation exposes not only the desperation of the APC, but also its dangerous closeness to the bandits who have terrorised our people for too long”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThis is a constitutional fact, not a political gimmick. For the APC to twist these words into \u2018complicity with bandits\u2019 is both reckless and irresponsible,\u201d the commissioner stated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
On who truly sabotaged security, Dantawasa alleged that, under years of APC ruling, billions of naira were wasted on peace deals with criminals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“Today, the same party dares to accuse a governor who, in less than two years, has distributed over 150 patrol vehicles to security agencies, recruited and equipped thousands of Community Protection Guards, and engaged trained hunters from the North-East to defend our communities,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Mahmud Dantawasa also reaffirmed Governor Lawal\u2019s commitment to addressing the root causes of violence through investments in water, schools, healthcare, and livelihoods for rural communities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He noted that the governor has been consistent in demanding the creation of state police, a reform openly supported by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
On a call for international solidarity, Dantawasa said the governor\u2019s tears were not a sign of weakness but of courage and empathy, reflecting the frustration of a leader denied full control of the security architecture yet determined to protect his people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He urged the international community to support Zamfara with technical, logistical, and humanitarian assistance to strengthen resilience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cLet it be clear, bandits and their political collaborators should be afraid, because under Governor Lawal their days are numbered. The people of Zamfara, Nigerians, and the world know who is genuinely fighting for peace and who is playing politics with lives”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He assured that, no amount of blackmail would distract Governor Dauda Lawal from his determination to reclaim Zamfara from the grip of bandits.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
