Alleged Blasphemy: Kano Shura Council Suspends Sheikh Triumph from Preaching<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Kano State Shura Council has suspended Islamic cleric, Sheikh Lawal Triumph, from preaching activities in the state, pending the outcome of an investigation into allegations of blasphemy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The council\u2019s Secretary, Alhaji Shehu Sagagi, announced the decision following the council\u2019s second meeting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He confirmed that a committee has been set up to invite Sheikh Triumph to respond to several petitions and counter-petitions filed against him over controversial remarks made during his sermons.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe committee will soon write and invite him to come and defend himself. The committee will inform him where and when to present himself,\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Sagagi stated that the council had reviewed video recordings of the cleric\u2019s sermons as part of its preliminary assessment. He emphasized that the council remains committed to fairness and transparency throughout the process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cNo individual or group will influence the decision of the council. Justice will be done,\u201d adding that the outcome of the deliberations would be made public.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Kano State Government had on September 26, 2025, referred the petitions alleging that Sheikh Triumph made comments deemed blasphemous and offensive to the Prophet Muhammad to the Shura Council for thorough review and guidance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Sagagi also cautioned religious leaders and politicians to refrain from making statements that could harm their reputation or provoke public unrest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
