{"id":3047,"date":"2025-10-09T09:37:13","date_gmt":"2025-10-09T09:37:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/radionigerianortheast.gov.ng\/?p=3047"},"modified":"2025-10-09T09:42:18","modified_gmt":"2025-10-09T09:42:18","slug":"fao-earmarked-over-400-hectares-of-land-under-the-climate-smart-restoration-of-degraded-land-in-borno-state","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/radionigerianortheast.gov.ng\/?p=3047","title":{"rendered":"FAO earmarked over 400 hectares of land under the Climate Smart restoration of degraded land in Borno State."},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><em>FAO team together with FAO head of Northeast Sub Office Alhassan Cisse during the Visit in Maiduguri<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">By Abdullah Gambo in Maiduguri.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations has commences climate-smart restoration program in Borno State, in partnership with the Federal Project Management Unit (FPMU) under the Agro-Climatic Resilience in Semi-arid Landscapes (ACReSAL) Project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The FAO team led by FAO Focal Person ACReSAL, Engineer Precious Agbesor arrived Borno State for a five days working visit to have on the spot assessment of the project across three (3) local government areas of the State namely Jere, Mafa and Bama.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to Engineer Precious Agbesor the initiative is to agricultural activities in Borno State via restoration degraded lands to enable farmers cultivate it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">FAO team, led by FAO Focal Person ACReSAL Engineer paid a courtesy call to the FAO&#8217;s Nigeria Northeast sub-office, where they emphasized the importance of evaluating progress in the region, particularly regarding the deployment of dalfino technology, which focuses on land restoration efforts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-gallery has-nested-images columns-default is-cropped wp-block-gallery-1 is-layout-flex wp-block-gallery-is-layout-flex\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"681\" data-id=\"3051\" src=\"https:\/\/radionigerianortheast.gov.ng\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/1000488017-1024x681.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3051\" srcset=\"https:\/\/radionigerianortheast.gov.ng\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/1000488017-1024x681.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/radionigerianortheast.gov.ng\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/1000488017-300x199.jpg 300w, https:\/\/radionigerianortheast.gov.ng\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/1000488017-768x511.jpg 768w, https:\/\/radionigerianortheast.gov.ng\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/1000488017.jpg 1080w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\"><em>FAO head of Northeast Sub Office Alhassan Cisse hosting FAO team at a courtesy call<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Engineer Agbesor highlighted FAO&#8217;s significant achievements in land restoration initiatives which was also component B of the ACReSSL and outlined plans for engagement with local communities through visits to various local government areas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">FAO Desk Officer ACReSAL Borno, Bukar Modu Goba acknowledged the support provided for Borno ACReSAL State Project Management Unit (SPMU) especially the training which grately facilitated Borno ACReSAl activities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He expressed appreciation for the FAO&#8217;s unwavering commitment to enhancing land restoration efforts in Borno State.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Head of the FAO Northeast sub-office, Alhassan Cisse reiterated the FAO&#8217;s mission in Borno, which is centered around supporting food production and restoring degraded land.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He explained that the mission is critical for improving the region&#8217;s resilience against climate impacts and boosting food security.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The collaboration between FAO and Borno ACReSAL is a significant step toward promoting sustainable agricultural practices and environmental restoration in the region, providing essential support to local communities in their pursuit of climate resilience.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>FAO team together with FAO head of Northeast Sub Office Alhassan Cisse during the Visit in Maiduguri By Abdullah Gambo in Maiduguri.
