The Society of Nigerian Broadcasters (SNB) has conferred the Award of Excellence on Borno State Governor, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum, for his contribution to the media industry.<\/p>\n
President of the Society, Professor Umaru A. Pate, presented the award at the 2nd annual national conference in Kano, stating that Governor Zulum was nominated for upholding freedom of press, ethical broadcasting and professionalism.<\/p>\n
\u201cDespite the security challenges, Governor Zulum is performing. We are aware of the tremendous efforts he is making in rebuilding and resetting victims of Boko Haram insurgency,\u201d Pate stated.<\/p>\n
He added, \u201cThe governor\u2019s nomination is based on his support to the broadcast industry and journalism profession. He has continued to uphold ethical broadcasting and press freedom.\u201d<\/p>\n
Receiving the award on behalf of the governor, the Commissioner for Information and Internal Security, Professor Usman Tar, expressed gratitude to the society.<\/p>\n
\u201cI stand on behalf of His Excellency, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum to receive this very prestigious award. The governor extends his appreciation to SNB and assured to continue to support the broadcast industry,\u201d Tar stated.<\/p>\n
He further noted, \u201cBorno state government has cordial working relationship with media stations in the state and even beyond. One of the governor\u2019s commitment is to resuscitate the state owned broadcast outfit, the Borno Radio Television (BRTV), I want to assure you that His Excellency is committed to this.\u201d<\/p>\n
The Commissioner for Information was accompanied by the Special Adviser on Media and Spokesperson to the governor, Dauda Iliya, and the Senior Special Assistant on Media, Hon. Baba Sheikh Haruna.<\/p>\n
The conference was attended by several other governors, including the Governor of Kano State, represented by his Director-General of Media, Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, as well as the Governors of Bauchi and Kaduna States, who were represented by their respective Commissioners of Information.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
