The Federal Government has reiterated its commitment to strengthening ethical standards in import trade as part of measures to enhance revenue generation and promote economic growth in the country.<\/p>\n
Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Finance, Mr. Raymond Omenka , disclosed this during a one-day sensitization workshop for importers, regulators and other stakeholders themed \u201cEthics in Import Trade for Enhanced Revenue Generation,\u201d held in Kano.<\/p>\n
The Permanent Secretary described the import trade sector as a vital engine of the nation\u2019s economy, noting that it plays a significant role in the provision of goods and services, job creation and the facilitation of international relations.<\/p>\n
Represented by the Deputy Director, Trade Relations Division, Rukayyatu Abdullahi , said the potential for enhanced revenue generation through ethical practices in the import sector is immense, stressing that operating with integrity creates a level playing field for all importers.<\/p>\n
In his keynote address, Director of Trade and Exchange Department at the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Dr. Musa Nakoji, who was represented by Jamilu Ado, said the gathering would enable stakeholders to leverage ethical standards in importation across various fields of trade and human endeavour, thereby enhancing economic viability.<\/p>\n
Highlights of the workshop included paper presentations by the Nigeria Customs Service,Standards Organisation of Nigeria , National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) And the Importers Association of Nigeria .<\/p>\n
