Borno State Governor, Babagana Umara Zulum, has approved the employment and absorption of 1,037 health professionals and supportive staff to strengthen Primary Healthcare Centres (PHCs) across the state.<\/p>\n
The approval includes the recruitment of 985 health professionals and 52 supportive staff to be deployed to PHCs in various parts of the state.<\/p>\n
The Governor also approved the engagement of 341 additional health professionals through the Basic Health Care Provision Fund to support frontline workers in health facilities across Borno.<\/p>\n
The Executive Secretary of the Borno State Primary Health Care Development Board, Professor Mohammed Arab Alhaji, said the initiative is part of the state government\u2019s efforts to strengthen healthcare delivery at the grassroots level.<\/p>\n
Providing a breakdown of the approval, the Executive Secretary said 859 health professionals of different cadres were employed under the Multi-Sectoral Crisis Recovery Project (MCRP) and deployed to PHC centres across the state.<\/p>\n
He added that Governor Zulum also directed the absorption of 111 health professionals and 52 supportive staff into five PHC centres located in Goni Damgari, Wulari, Shuwari, Miringa and Fikayel. An additional 15 health professionals were also approved for deployment to two health facilities in Mobbar Local Government Area.<\/p>\n
According to him, other interventions include the engagement of 341 health professionals through the Basic Health Care Provision Fund and the IMPACT Immunisation programme to further strengthen the health workforce in PHCs across the state.<\/p>\n
Professor Alhaji disclosed that the governor has approved the implementation of the new minimum wage and enhanced allowances for health workers across the facilities as part of measures to motivate the workforce.<\/p>\n
He also revealed that 123 PHC centres have been renovated, revitalised and upgraded with solar-powered boreholes, essential drugs and medical consumables through interventions by the state government, IMPACT Immunisation, the National Primary Health Care Development Agency and the Global Fund.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
