The Federal Government says it would not relent in providing solar power mini-Grid to institutions of learning accross the country geared towards enhancing conducive atmosphere for learning.<\/p>\n
The Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, Kingsley Tochukwu disclosed this during the commencement of the solarisation of a 2-megawatt mini-grid at Aliko Dangote University of Science and Technology in Wudil, Kano.<\/p>\n
The minister said this is part of efforts to expand access to renewable energy in tertiary institutions.<\/p>\n
Kingsley Tochukwu Udeh said the project aligns with the commitment of Bola Ahmed Tinubu to provide sustainable power solutions for higher institutions.<\/p>\n
He described the initiative as a strategic investment aimed at enhancing research, innovation and academic productivity, noting that it forms part of the Renewed Hope Solarisation Project.<\/p>\n
According to the minister, the ADUSTECH project is the third solar intervention in Kano State after similar projects at Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital and Bayero University Kano, adding that efforts are ongoing to ensure energy security across federal tertiary institutions.<\/p>\n
Udeh explained that the project includes not only power generation but also energy storage systems, smart distribution networks and a supervisory control system for real-time energy management on campus.<\/p>\n
The Director General of the Energy Commission of Nigeria, Mustapha Abdullahi, said the 2MW installation represents the first phase of a broader 7-megawatt plan designed to meet the institution\u2019s long-term energy demand.<\/p>\n
He disclosed that the N3.8 billion project, awarded to Safiatu Global Resources Limited, is expected to be completed within three months and will significantly reduce the university\u2019s reliance on the national grid.<\/p>\n
In his remarks, the Vice Chancellor of ADUSTECH, Musa Yakassai, described the project as a landmark intervention and the largest infrastructure support received by the institution, adding that it would boost research capacity and promote sustainable development.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
