North East Development Commission, NEDC, under its Pillar 10, Protective Environment Master Plan, has expressed readiness to collaborate with Environmental Care Foundation, to empower women with sustainable, home-based livelihood opportunities.<\/p>\n
Adamawa State Coordinator of the Commission, Khalifa Lawan made this known in Yola during a Pilot Phase implementation of the Domestic Economic Empowerment Project.<\/p>\n
The NEDC, Adamawa State Coordinator, Khalifa Lawan explained that the Pilot Phase integrates the cultivation of economic trees and vegetables with broader livelihood strategies aimed at improving household income while strengthening community resilience.<\/p>\n
He noted that situating the pilot within the NEDC State office allows for close supervision, effective monitoring, and thorough evaluation before scaling up the initiative to wider communities across the state.<\/p>\n
The NEDC, Adamawa State Coordinator, expressed optimism that the partnership in the Pilot Phase will inform a broader rollout of the initiative, aimed at expanding sustainable, home-based livelihood opportunities for women across Adamawa State.<\/p>\n
On his part, the Founder, Environmental Care Foundation, Yohana Moses, expressed delight over the collaboration with NEDC, noting that the partnership will introduce a practical model for domestic empowerment, with participants currently test-running the concept under guided conditions.<\/p>\n
The initiative, which falls under Pillar 10, Protective Environment of the NEDC Master Plan, is designed to empower women by transforming domestic activities into sustainable income-generating opportunities within their homes and communities.<\/p>\n
A land-check monitoring system has also been introduced to track the growth and maintenance of crops, ensuring sustainability and accountability.<\/p>\n
The Pilot Phase features economic trees such as blackcurrant, bitter leaf, and Jatropha, alongside vegetables including okro, spinach and moringa.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
