The Minister of State for Education, Prof Suwaiba Ahmad, says President Bola Tinubu\u2019s support for the Adolescent Girls Initiative for Learning and Empowerment (AGILE) represents a significant step toward improving girl-child education and expanding access to quality learning opportunities for adolescent girls across the country.<\/p>\n
Professor Suwaiba made the commendation during an inspection visit to selected AGILE project sites in Kano State, including WTC Kano and Government Girls Senior Secondary School (GGSS) Dukawuya.<\/p>\n
The minister noted that, the Tinubu led administration was committed to mapping out policies and programs aimed at uplifting education to global standard.<\/p>\n
She expressed satisfaction with the quality of projects being executed under the World Bank-supported AGILE programme in Kano State.<\/p>\n
The Minister praised the standard of work at the project sites but directed contractors handling some of the projects to make necessary corrections where required to ensure the delivery of durable and high-quality infrastructure.<\/p>\n
Earlier, the Kano State Commissioner for Education, Ali Makoda, disclosed that the state government would renovate about 300 schools under the AGILE project across Kano State.<\/p>\n
According to him, the government also plans to construct 49 new girls\u2019 schools across the 484 wards of the state as part of efforts to strengthen access to education for girls.<\/p>\n
The Commissioner commended Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf for prioritising the education sector through sustained investments aimed at improving learning environments and educational outcomes.<\/p>\n
He also appreciated the Minister for visiting Kano State to inspect the ongoing AGILE projects and for her continued support toward the advancement of education in the state.<\/p>\n
Radio Nigeria reports that, the AGILE project is a World Bank-supported initiative designed to improve secondary education opportunities for adolescent girls through enhanced infrastructure, increased access, and empowerment programmes.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
