Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni, has emerged as the unopposed candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, for the Yobe East Senatorial Zone.<\/p>\n
Governor Buni, who was the sole aspirant for the seat, was returned unopposed following a motion moved by the incumbent Senator representing the zone, Musa Mustapha, and seconded by House of Representatives member, Lawan Shettima.<\/p>\n
Chairman of the APC Electoral Committee, Amb. Babagana Ajimi, thereafter put the decision to a voice vote, where party delegates unanimously affirmed Governor Buni as the sole candidate of the party.<\/p>\n
Speaking at the event, the Minister of Police Affairs, Ibrahim Gaidam, commended APC members in Yobe East for conducting themselves peacefully throughout the exercise and cooperating with party leaders.<\/p>\n
In his acceptance speech, Governor Buni appreciated stakeholders and political office holders from the zone for purchasing his nomination and expression of interest forms.<\/p>\n
The governor also praised the political maturity and stability of the zone, describing it as a major contributor to democratic development in Yobe State.<\/p>\n
Governor Buni particularly commended Senator Musa Mustapha for accepting the party\u2019s consensus arrangement and withdrawing his governorship ambition in the interest of unity.<\/p>\n
Buni pledged to represent the people diligently at the National Assembly and place public interest above personal considerations.<\/p>\n
He also called on other aspirants to support the aspiration of Baba Malam Wali and work towards strengthening unity within the APC family.<\/p>\n
The Governor further urged party leaders and stakeholders to intensify mobilisation efforts ahead of the elections to ensure victory for APC candidates and the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
