The Yobe State Security Council has commended residents of the state for maintaining peace during the political party primaries conducted so far.<\/p>\n
Briefing journalists after the council meeting chaired by Mai Mala Buni, the Commissioner of Police, Usman Kamfani Jibrin, urged anyone dissatisfied with the outcome of the primaries to seek redress through lawful and constituted channels.<\/p>\n
The Police Commissioner warned that security agencies remain on high alert and would deal decisively with any attempt to disrupt public peace. He added that individuals or groups involved in sponsoring political violence, thuggery, or banditry would face the full weight of the law.<\/p>\n
According to him, security operatives have uncovered plans by some politicians to import thugs into the state to cause confusion, noting that investigations are ongoing to identify and apprehend those behind the plot.<\/p>\n
The Police chief also cautioned politicians against holding unauthorized political rallies, stressing that the approved timetable for political activities must be respected.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, the Adviser on Security Affairs to the Governor, Dahiru Abdulsalam, has advised residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious movements within their communities.<\/p>\n
He explained that some criminals fleeing ongoing military operations in the bush may attempt to seek refuge in communities, warning that anyone found harbouring criminals would be arrested and prosecuted according to the law.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
