Ningi Emirate Council in Bauchi State has advised the Adolescent Girls Initiative for Learning and Empowerment (AGILE) Project to keep politicians away from the project’s implementation to ensure its success.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Emir of Ningi Alhaji Haruna Yunusa Danyaya III gave the advice at an Advocacy and sensitisation meeting with the State AGILE Technical Team at his palace in Ningi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Alhaji Haruna Danyaya who relayed the opinions of all the Council members, noted that managing educational activities, particularly girl child education is a collective responsibility, hence the need to avoid involving politicians in technical aspects of the project’s implementation at every stage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
While restating the resolve of traditional, community and religious leaders to support the project, the Emir urged the AGILE team under its Coordinator Malam Ali Gar, to fear Allah and ensure transparency in the recruitment of three thousand teachers under the project to ensure success.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In their separate contributions, the Magatakardan Ningi Alhaji Muhammad Sabo Abubakar, Wakilin Gabas Alhaji Ibrahim Baraya Aliyu and Magayakin Ningi who doubles as council Secretary Alhaji Usman Sule reiterated the need to ensure the project is free from political interference.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Earlier, the AGILE State Project Coordinator, Malam Ali Sule Gar, explained that the teacher’s recruitment exercise is part of conditions set by the World Bank for the successful implementation of the project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Ali Gar who argued that the recruitment exercise will be based on merit, noted that eligibility for the teaching job is for those selected to be residents of the benefitting community towards addressing the problem of proximity and access.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He further highlighted the primary objectives of the project to include financial support to girls between the ages of 10 to 20 from poor families to enable them go to school, skills acquisition training for the girls and second chance education for girls that dropped out due to one reason or the other.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
