As part of efforts to curb political thuggery and rehabilitate at-risk youths, the Kano State Government has inaugurated the Kano State Advocates Against Thuggery for repentant political youth influencers under the Safe Corridor Project \u2013 Kano Model.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The event, held in Kano, brought together key stakeholders, including representatives of security agencies, civil society organisations, community leaders, and the media.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Safe Corridor Project is designed to address the pressing issue of political thuggery and other related criminal activities among young people, with over 700 repentant youths already profiled across the state.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Inaugurating the advocates, the Kano State Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Comrade Ibrahim Waiya, explained that the initiative is part of the broader Safe Corridor Project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He stated that the project, approved by Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf in August 2024, serves as an intervention strategy to rehabilitate and empower repentant political youth influencers who have surrendered to the government.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Comrade Waiya reaffirmed government\u2019s commitment to eradicating political thuggery and other criminal activities among young people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He emphasised the importance of collaboration between government agencies, community-based organisations, and the private sector in creating a safe and inclusive environment with sustainable opportunities for youth development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In his remarks, the representative of civil society organisations, Comrade Idris Ibrahim Makama, pledged full support in working with the Ministry of Information and Internal Affairs to ensure the initiative\u2019s success.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Speaking, some of the repentant youths expressed commitment to become responsible members of society.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
They pledged to abandon all criminal activities being perpetrated and embrace meaningful endeavours that contribute to the state’s development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
They acknowledged that the Safe Corridor Project represents a collective movement towards reducing crime, promoting peace, and fostering personal development among young people, reinforcing the message that change is possible with the right support and determination.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
