Inec trains staff on procedures of the ongoing voter registration exercise.

The Independent National Electoral Commission INEC has Reaffirmed it’s determination in enlightening it’s staff and the general populace the use of technology in the electoral process , aimed at ensuring Success in the ongoing voter registration exercise.

The National Commissioner and chairman information and voter education INEC, Mr Festus Okoye stated this during the opening ceremony of a workshop for Head of departments and public Affairs officers of the Commission,organized by the Commission in collaboration with the United Nations Developmet Program, held in Kano.

He said the workshop was Organized by the Commission to improve the knowledge of it’s personnel on the processes and the procedure of the Commission on the numerous task of interfacing with the public ,aimed at strengthening the electoral process.

” You can see that since the online voter registration exercise started ,so many new registrants have seize the opportunity to do their free registration,so many young person’s have commence their Registration,but we are pleading to those who have done the online pre registration to go to any of the registration centers of the Commission to complete their biometrics”
Mr Festus Okoye maintained that any eligible voters who did the online pre registration without Completion the process by biometric capture,the pre registration was invalid.

The National Commissioner explained that the Commission had established a new department called litigation and prosecution which has the mandate of prosecuting those engaged in double Registration.

” Their also a possibility that when we are doing what we called D duplication we’ll detect anyone who did double Registration,and I assured you that anyone found wanting would be prosecuted .

Earlier The Resident Electoral Commissioner in Kano professor Rusqua Shehu said the workshop was very Timely aimed at Achieving the set objectives.
The workshop Attracted participants from the nineteen Northern States of the Federation.
