Insecurity: Governor Bala Mohammed Warns LG Chairmen Against Laxity

Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed has warned local government chairmen across the state against laxity in handling security related issues.
This followed the recent banditry attacks and kidnapping of some people in parts of the state.
Reports indicated that four local government areas of Toro, Ningi, Alkaleri and Ganjuwa have recently witnessed activities of miscreants which resulted to Killing and kidnapping of some innocent citizens.
The situation prompted Governor Bala Mohammed to summon a meeting with critical stakeholders including the twenty local government Chairmen and heads of security agencies with a view to devising effective of means of tackling the ugly trends.
Addressing the participants, Governor Bala Mohammed warns that henceforth the state government will not tolerate nonchalant attitude in handling security issue at the local levels noting that the chairmen will be accountable for failure to meet up to their responsibilities.
He directed them to be regular in conducting monthly security council meeting and maintain active collaboration with security personnel and community leaders towards addressing problem of land encroachment which often resulted to the farmers harders clashes.
The Governor also charged the chairmen to be prudence in managing resources noting that the local governments will soon take full responsibility of their resources including payment of salaries.
The participants have therefore expressed readiness to complement the Government efforts in addressing all forms of challenges.
