Kano judiciary, Unicef trains stakeholders on ensuring Access to Justice for Children

Ensuring Access to Justice for Children has been Described as a Major factor of protecting the Rights of Children .

The Child protection Manager UNICEF Kano, Emilia Allan stated this during a training for law enforcement agencies organised by Kano State Ministry of Justice with the support of UNICEF, Held in Kano.

She said the aim of the training was to ensure that the rights of children were well protected .

Emilia Allan explained that workshop was targeted at equipping the Stakeholders with capacity that would help them to handle issue of Children when it arrived before them in there day to day activities.

” The way you handled the issues of children even according our law are different from the way you handled adults,so it is important that we build the Capacities of the people who worked in these areas to be equipped to know these different so that they will give children the needed care and protection when they come in contact with them “

She noted that UNICEF was working close with Government,Stressing that the training would help immensely in addressing children Rights Challenges .

Emilia Allan added that the Child protection Bill which is before the Kano state house of Assembly of passed would address alot of Challenges affecting the Rights of Children.

In a remark the Director Citizens Right Kano state Ministry of Justice Sanusi Salisu said the capacity Building training was meant at Enhancing the capacity of law enforcement agencies geared towards ensuring that cases related with Children were being handled with upmost care and confidentiality.

The training which was an EU-funded project Attracted Participants from the Nigerian police, Nigerian security and Civil Defense, magistrates ,Legal and practitioners among others .
