Kano state fire service says no fewer than 182 lives were lost due to different disasters from January to December 2021.

The public relations officer of the agency, SFS Saminu Yusif Abdullahi disclosed while briefing newsmen in kano.

According to him, the Kano state fire service under the leadership of its director-general Alhaji Hassan Ahmed Muhammad saved 1,240 lives during the period under review.

The public relations officer explained that over #660 million naira worth of properties were lost while estimated properties saved stood at #1,579,706,224.

He said 655 road accidents and two collapsed buildings were recorded by the agency in 2021.

SFS Saminu Yusif Abdullahi noted that the Kano state fire service had also succeeded in rescuing three animals and a man electrocuted at so far Nasarawa Railway Cabin.

He pointed out that, 831 fire calls, 818 rescue calls, and 201 false alarms were received across the 27 fire stations in the state.

The public relations officers maintained that 655 road accidents and the evacuation of 14 people that lost their consciousness on the road were part of the successes achieved by the Kano state fire service last year.

SFS Saminu Yusif Abdullahi urged the general public to maintain safety at all times and report any case of fire outbreak, collapsed building, drowning, or road accident to the nearest fire service office or through its 24 hours telephone numbers.
