Kebbi State Government has commenced the rehabilitation of the Birnin Kebbi central motor park, worth N2.9 billion.
Speaking on the occasion, Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Yakubu Bala, who represented the state Governor Nasir Idris, said the motor park has been in dilapidated condition for a long period of time unbecoming of the status of a state capital.
He said, Comrade Nasir Idris led administration approved the immediate rehabilitation of the park into modern edifice to provide excellent transportation for passengers, drivers and goods as well as other users coming in and departing Kebbi State.
The SSG pointed out that, the motor park wearing a face-lift would be a symbol of honour and integrity befitting the state capital.
The Commissioner for Works and Transport, Alhaji Abdullahi Umar Faruq, said the project entailed complete rehabilitation and modernisation of the park for modern public transport.
He said, facilities to be constructed are adequate water supply, modern administrative block, lock up shops, available sit out for commuters, gallery, up to date readable electronic information board and restaurant.
The contract inglés firm AMIJAPP Nigeria Limited with mandate to ensure quality job within the 12 months completion time assured to abide by the terms and condition of the contract.
