Key Areas for Engineers to Achieve Development- Dr. Shu’aibu.

A lecturer with the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University ATBU Bauchi, Dr. Shu’aibu Musa has identified some key areas where Mechanical Engineers can key into, towards ensuring sustainable development of the country.

He gave the indication in Bauchi at local Annual General Meeting organized by the Nigeria Institution of Mechanical Engineers (NIMechE) Bauchi chapter, with the theme Impact of Mechanical Engineering, Education and Practice for Sustainable Development.

Dr. Shu’aibu Musa who is an Associate Professor in the Department of Agricultural Engineering ATBU Bauchi said some of the areas Mechanical Engineers can make impact for sustainable development include Indigenous Technology, Cross border Engineering practice, research and Development as well as provision of consultancy service.

He explained that other areas are Agriculture, Manufacturing, Oil and Gas, Construction and Mining industries.

Also speaking, the National Chairman NIMechE, Professor Muhammad Ndaliman said the theme of the AGM was apt in view of the current development challenges being faced by the country.

Represented by the National Vice Chairman, Engineer Mohammed Hassan, Professor Ndaliman called on members of the institution to ensure consistent payment of their annual dues to enable the organization run its activities smoothly.

In an address of welcome, the chairman, NIMechE, Bauchi chapter, Engineer Afemikhe Yakubu said Mechanical Engineers have a crucial role to play in laying solid technologies in the country.
Highlight of the AGM was exhibition of some agriculture products threshing machines locally fabricated by the Centre for Industrial Studies of ATBU.
