National population commission begins census pre-test in some government areas of Gombe state.

The National population commission (NPC), has called on citizens of Gombe state to give them maximum cooperation as the commission prepares to start the 2022 cencus in May.

The commission’s state Director, Mr Jude Maigari, made the call at the office of the Chairman, Dukku Local Government Area during the launch of the pre-test pilot census program.

According to the director, their visit was to seek public support for the pilot census project which is to begin with four local government areas, including Akko, Funakaye, kaltungo and Dukku, and to test their census methodology.

He added that the NPC will be using computerized technology as opposed to the one used in 2005-2006.

Mr. Jude further stated that the census would take them a week, where they would conduct a three-day house listing and a four-day census.

In an address, the chairman, Dukku Local Government Area, Alhaji Jamilu Ahmed Shabewa, who expressed happiness over the selection of his local Government Area, promised the commission their support in ensuring that the census pre-testing is completed successfully.
