Shortly after the Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Dr. Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami revealed the Federal Government’s position on the deployment of 5G networks in Nigeria, the Executive Vice Chairman of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), Prof. Umar Garba Danbatta, has said that the Commission is ready for the implementation of the government’s decision

The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), says the Commission is ready to deploy fifth-generation (5G) network across the country.

The NCC Executive vice-chairman Umar Dambatta made this known while fielding questions from the newly posted Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Communications and Digital Economy, Mr. Bitrus Nabasu during a presentation in Abuja

Dambatta said an auction committee for 5G with a deployment plan is ready.

The Executive Vice Chairman called for an additional spectrum to be allocated by the National Frequency Management Council (NFMC).

He explained that some of these spectrums are ready but need Federal Government’s approval for auctions.

Danbatta said the commission will launch a book to provide more insight into the workings of NCC under his watch.

He said the commission will continue to deploy its mandate to boost the economy and ensure national development.

Danbatta also urged governments at every level in Nigeria to respect the resolution of the National Economic Council on the harmonized Right of Way charges.
