NDLEA SEEKS PARTNERSHIP WITH NUJ ADAMAWA IN FIGHTING DRUG DEALERS.

The new Commander of this the National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) Adamawa State command, Mr. Agboalu Femi has sought partnership with the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) in fighting drug dealers and Traffickers in the state.

Mr.Agboalu, gave the indication when he laid the management team of the command on a courtesy call to the leadership of NUJ at the Press Centre Yola.

He said, Drug Abuse and trafficking have destroyed the destiny of children, making life unbearable for them through the consumption of substances and other unconventional drugs hence the collaboration in enlightening the public through editorial comments, articles, cartoons, and essays to promote positive drug-related issues.

According to him, the media should also emphasize the negative effects of illicit drug trafficking and abuse on individuals, families, and communities as well as the economy while it should be de-emphasized reporting on the cash down the value of drugs to discourage Traffickers.

He further explained that the “War Against Drug Abuse (WADA) which was launched by the Federal Government on 26th June 2021 will be brought to the doorsteps of critical stakeholders through advocacy visits, rallies, and presentations of lectures on drug abuse.

Responding, the state Chairman of Nigeria Union of Journalists, Adamawa State council, Comrade Ishaka Donald Dedan assured the new Commander of NDLEA of full support and cooperation in fighting drug dealers and Traffickers.

He said the media are critical stakeholders in building a virile society hence the collaboration.
