NEDC Distributes Relief materials Local Security Network in Yobe state

The North East Development Commission NEDC in collaboration with Yobe state Government has commenced distribution of food and non food items to family members of deceased, the incapacitated and the injured vigilante and hunters groups across Yobe state to cushion their hardship.

At the commencement of the exercise in Damaturu, the Yobe state focal person of NEDC Dr Ali Ibrahim Abbas said two hundred and forty six persons would benefit from the gesture.

The Vigilante and hunters groups have over the years being in the forefront in the fight against insurgency and other forms of insecurity as a result of which some paid the supreme price with their lives, some became permanently incapacitated while others sustained various degree of injury.

According the Yobe state Focal Person of the North East Development Commission Dr Ali Abbas, the gesture was to show recognition and appreciation to the vigilante and hunters in the state for their sacrifice in the fight against insurgency and the restoration of peace in different communities.

Dr Ali Abbas further revealed that, apart from the local security networks, the gesture would be extended to other paramilitary organization to equally give them sense of belonging.

In his response, the representative of the local security network in Yobe state Mr Philip Japheth commended the NEDC and Yobe state government for appreciating their sacrifice in various ways including provision medical care to the injured and financial support among others.

The items distributed include rice, spaghetti, vegetable oil, blanket, mosquito nets among others.
