NEDC Engages Stakeholders on the Proposed North-East Stabilization and Development Master Plan.

In Bauchi State, Stakeholders in rebuilding the Northeast subregion have engaged in a forum to brainstorm on the proposed Northeast Stabilization and Development Master Plan to facilitate the speedy recovery from the destructions caused by insurgency and other forms of criminality.

This was in compliance with President Muhammadu Buhari’s directive for the North-East Development Commission NEDC to work with state governments and relevant stakeholders in addressing the devastating effects and socioeconomic challenges for the sustainable development of the region.

The event was organized by the Commission in collaboration with Bauchi State Government.

The Northeast Development Commission was in the state in continuation of the stakeholders engagement in developing an acceptable and effective roadmap that would promote economic prosperity and alleviate poverty across the six states of Adamawa, Bauchi, Borno, Gombe, Taraba and Yobe.

Addressing the participants, the Managing Director of the Commission Mohammed Goni Alkali said grassroot consultations with various MDAs, security agencies, religious and community leaders as well as development partners will avail the opportunity to obtain inputs from groups and individuals.

Goni Alkali who was represented by the state coordinator Ibrahim Muhammad Bashir noted that the proposed ten year master plan comprised relevant aspects of policies, provision of infrastructure, entrepreneurship development among others.

On his part, the State Governor Bala Mohammed represented by Special Adviser General Services Alh. Hashimu Kumbala who applauded the NEDC for the initiative, called on the participants to make positive contributions that would fast track the rebuilding of the subregion.

He assured the state government commitment to provide enabling environment for the effective implementation of the plan in the state.

Some of the participants who spoke during the session, expressed confidence that move would yield positive results.

They however commended the Commission for it determination to ensure stabilization of the zone.
