NEDC Inaugurates Construction of 500 Housing Units in Bauchi, Donates Trucks of Food Items.

The Northeast Development Commission NEDC has inaugurated the construction of five hundred housing units in Bauchi State capital as part of its effort towards rebuilding the subregion ravaged by activities of insurgents.
The commission has also launched the distribution of food and non-food items to internally Displaced Persons IDPs who are taking refuge in the state.
Isiyaka Wunti reports that Governor Bala Mohammed inaugurated the projects at Dungal Community in Bauchi local government area.
Speaking at the foundation laying ceremony, the Managing Director of the Commission Alh. Goni Alkali said the gesture was in compliance with the directive by the ministry of humanitarian affairs and disaster management to construct mass housing units across the Subregion following the displacement of communities by activities of insurgents.
Alh. Goni Alkali who expressed the commission’s determination to achieving it mandate for ensuring equitable provision of humanitarian support across the Subregion noted that arrangements have been made for award of scholarship for the twenty twenty two academic session as part its education Intervention.
The State Governor Bala Mohammed while commending the federal government and NEDC for sustaining provision of various interventions in critical sectors of health, education, agriculture and physical infrastructure said the move will compliment efforts of all the Governors in the subregion.
In their remarks the Chairman Senate Committee on Special Duties Yusuf Abubakar Yusuf and the Chairperson of the House of Representatives Committee on the NEDC Khadija Bukar Abba Ibrahim assured to facilitate the approval of adequate budgetary provision for the commission to sustain it activities.
Radio Nigeria observed that the food items donated include ten thousand bags of rice, three thousand bags of sugar, five thousand cartons of spaghetti, vegetable oils among others.
