The Northeast Development Commission has assured Stakeholders in the region that their contributions and collective inputs would be reflected in its ten-year Development
The Chairman of the Commission Muhammad Goni Alkali made this known during a consultative and engagement meeting with Adamawa State Stakeholders on the Northeast Stabilisation master plan in Yola the Adamawa State capital.
The Chairman of the commission who was represented at the meeting by his Special technical assistant, Professor Umaru Bobboi revealed that the strategies to be adopted will ensure purposeful collaboration, cooperation, coordination, and effective integration between Northeast Development Commission, member states, and other partners.
Professor Bobboi pointed out that the commission establishment act is designated as the focal point to coordinate and harmonize all other intervention programs and initiatives that member states, the Federal Government, and all other stakeholders will execute for the Stabilisation and development of the region.
In his address, the Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri appreciated President Muhammad Buhari for the establishment of the commission, which has impacted positively on the lives of the people of the region.
The Governor who was represented by the Commissioner for information and Strategy, Umar Pella, stressed that the commission’s effort to come out with a Master plan is timely as according to him, the plan will help the commission to have a vision and direction for whatever intervention it needs to deploy for the development of the region and its people.
On his part, the District Head of Nyibango, Alhaji Abubakar Jika who represented Lamido Adamawa Muhammad Barkindo Aliyu Mustafa commended the Northeast Development Commission for its numerous contributions and programs to the people of the region and assured them of his support whenever the need arises.
The Commissioner for housing and development, Sunday Nyagra applauded the commission for the provision of housing units in the state which he said would reduce the effect of housing deficit in the state, and called on them to direct the contractors to return to the site.
Representatives of a network of Nongovernmental organizations and the National Council for Women Society who spoke at the meeting thanked the commission for the inclusion of women in all aspects of development in the region especially the issue of gender equality and improved coordination with civil society organizations.
