The National Emergency Management Agency NEMA has embarked on massive sensitisation to internally displaced persons camps on prevention and control of incessant fire outbreak in camps.
Recently about five IDP camps in Mafa, Konduga and Nganzai local government areas have been gutted by fire in Borno state resulting to loss of property worth millions of naira.
Concerned about this worrisome development, NEMA North East Zonal Coordinator Usman Aji led officials of the Agency to Custom House IDP camp for the sensitisation exercise.
The Coordinator said the sensitization is aimed at curbing the reoccurring cases of fire outbreaks in Internally Displaced person’s camps in Borno state
He urged the displaced persons to be more careful when cooking their meals by ensuring that they put out the fire after cooking.
He commended the federal and state fire services and other stakeholders for collaborating with NEMA in the campaign.
Representative of the IDPs Bulama Modu promise to implement what they have learnt and abise by the control measures.
The campaign was attended by officials of Federal and Borno state Fire Services.
