Nesrea seals off 12 facilities in Kano for violating Environmental Offences.

The National Environmental Standards and Regulations Enforcement Agency (nesrea) has sealed 12 Companies in Kano for Violating Environmental Offences in the State.
The Director General of the Agency professor Aliyu Jauro stated this while briefing Journalist shortly after the enforcement tour conducted by officials of the Agency in Kano.
Professor Aliyu Jauro represented by Assistant Director in the Agency Musa Shehu Usman said Nesrea was saddled with the responsibility of enforcing all Environmental laws, guidelines policies, standards, and regulations, hence it will not relent in ensuring that the stated Goals were being Achieved .
He said over the Years the Agency has been reaching out to the regulated Community through its compliance monitoring and enforcement Activities,aimed at encouraging Enviromental users to Comply.
“It is worrisome to note that despite repeated Sensitization,some of the facilities and industries have refuses to comply with the provision of Environmental Guidelines and Regulations”.
Professor Aliyu Jauro maintained that the Agency had embarked on a Nationwide Enforcement Exercise to bring an end to the Gross Negligence and non adherence to set Standard by some industries and facilities whose Activities pose threat to the Environment.
He noted so far 12 facilities have been sealed ,saying investigation was ongoing and soon the violators would be Charged to Court.
Professor Aliyu Jauro enjoins Nigerians to serve as Environmental watchdogs by Reporting facilities that carried out activities which are detrimental to the Environment.
