Nigerian military to deploy new strategy to end insurgency.

The Minister of Defence, Major General Bashir Magashi rtd says the military would soon come up with a plan than will bring to a logical conclusion the insurgency bedeviling the Northeast.

Major General Magashi stated this while briefing newsmen shortly after receiving operational brief that lasted for about two hours from the Theatre Commander Operation Lafiya Dole Major General Farouq Yahaya at the Command and Control Centre, Maimalari Cantonment Maiduguri.

The Minister who was accompanied by the Chief of Defence Staff and Service Chiefs disclosed that more military equipment will be acquired for speedy prosecution of the war on terror.

“We are here to assess the fighting spirit of our troops in Operation Dole, we have already directed that all the problems, constraints should be put on paper to enable us study them and be able to come up with a plan and we are here to verify and see how best we can proceed so that we can bring this war to a logical conclusion in favour of the government of the federal republic of Nigeria”.

The Minister while addressing troops of Operation Lafiya Dole conveyed President Muhammadu Buhari’s goodwill message, assuring them of improved welfare and logistics support.

According to him the federal government would soon embark on the recruitment of more officers and soldiers to boost the manpower holding of Nigerian armed forces.

General Magashi expressed confidence that when given the right equipment and tools, the military will do the country proud like they had done in several peace keeping operations across the continent.

The Ministry and his team later visited recuperating troops at the Seven Division Hospital assuring them of improved medical support to ensure their speedy recovery.
