NLC Wants President Buhari Declare State of Emergency on Security.

As the World celebrate this year’s International Workers’ Day, the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to declare a State of Emergency on security to address the myriad of challenges bedeviling the country.
The Chairman, NLC, Bauchi State Council Comrade Danjuma Saleh made the call at this year’s International Workers’ Day Celebration held at Command Guest Inn, in Bauchi metropolis.
Comrade Danjuma Saleh who frowned at the present security situation in the country, especially the incessant abduction and killing of students, urged the government to be more serious in that regard.
He urged Governor Bala Mohammed to ensure the release and regular implementation of promotions to all deserving officers as and when due.
On payment of gratuities, the NLC Chairman also appealed to the State Governor to inject more funds on the monthly allocation to the state and local government Pension Boards to enable them pay more retirees.
In his Speech, Governor Bala Mohammed represented by the Speaker Bauchi State House of Assembly, Abubakar Sulaiman expressed his administration’s commitment to ensure that workers welfare was not toyed with.
Also Speaking, the Acting Head of Civil Service in the state, Alhaji Aliyu Jibo, commended the Civil Servants for their tireless commitment to duty which according to him made the state proud among its counterparts.
The Chairman Trade Union Congress (TUC) Comrade Sabi’u Barau appreciated all and sundry for gracing the occasion.
This year’s event which was celebrated in a low key due to the second wave of coronavirus pandemic saw the workers in their colourful attires singing solidarity songs.
