The North East Development Commission (NEDC)
says it will award scholarships to post-secondary students at university levels across Gombe State.
The Coordinator, North East Development Commission Gombe State chapter, Rufai Baba Manu, made this known in an interview with Radio Nigeria, in Gombe.
Rufai Baba Manu, said the scholarships that would be awarded by the commission this year, is to complement the state governments effort on it’s recent declaration of state of emergency on education.
He explained that the NEDC also plans to rehabilitate schools which were damaged by Boko Haram insurgents in Dukku, Nafada and Yamaltu Deba Local Government Areas of Gombe state, as well as rebuild ICT centers in the three senatorial zones across the State.
The state coordinator, added that the commission contributed a lot to Gombe State Government in areas of agriculture, health, job creation as well as youth self-reliance, in the year 2021.
Rufai Baba Manu said, the NEDC has addressed many challenges facing people of the North East and reaffirmed its commitment in further developing the region.
