The National Population Commission Gombe state has assured Nigerians and the international community of it’s readiness to conduct a credible, reliable, and acceptable 2023 population and housing census.
The Federal Commissioner, Honourable Abubakar Mohammed Danburam , gave the assurance at the opening ceremony of the training of the trainer (TOT), state level workshop for the 2023 population and housing census, held in Gombe state.
The Honourable Federal Commissioner said the training was designed to equip the senior level officers with necessary knowledge and skills to productively participate in the conduct of the 2023 census.
He said the training which is the second level of training in the census, will be stepped down to the local government level in order to provide a clear understanding of what must happen to meet the training requirements that have been defined.
Honourable Danburam further explained that the objectives of the training of the trainer’s workshop are to prepare the senior level trainers for standardized census training, adequately teach the concepts and definitions for the 2023 Population and Housing Census, provide clear guidelines for the field enumeration procedures for the Population and Housing census, provide first-instructions on the use of the census data collection applications, and to provide first hand guides for the census field operation among others.
He mentioned that for the next 10 days, participants will re-evaluate the skills and practical demonstrations of operations in the field with the overall efforts to deliver a truly scientific, credible and acceptable 2023 census.
The Honourable Federal Commissioner urged the participants to exemplify the highest moral and ethical conduct, and put in more effort needed for the overall success of the 2023 Population and Housing census.
