The Federal Commissioner, representing Gombe and Abuja at the National population commission, Honourable Abubakar Mohammed Danburam, has advised enumerators to accord the trial census all the seriousness it deserves for the success of the exercise.

He gave the advice at the flag-off ceremony of the training of functionaries for the trial census held at the Gombe State University.

Hon Danburam said the trial census will cover thirty-six states of the federation and the FCT.

According to him, six LGAs will be selected from six states in the six geo-political zones of Nigeria for full population enumeration, while forty-five EAs will be selected each from the remaining thirty-six states and the FCT. In total, four thousand six hundred and eighty EAs have been selected for the trial census to test run their suitability and readiness for the actual census.

He promised to leave no stone unturned to ensure that the trial census is carried out meticulously, professionally, and scientifically, to provide a good foundation for the conduct of the 2023 population and Housing Census.

The Honorable commissioner said the commission has introduced new technologies such as CensusPAD and CSPro to ensure that the upcoming trial census serves as a good rehearsal that will make the 2023 population and Housing Census credible, reliable, and acceptable.

He expressed confidence that the knowledge and skills acquired at the workshop will equip functionaries to efficiently and effectively carry out their tasks, and that the objective of the workshop will also impact positively on all aspects of the preparations and execution of the 2023 population and Housing Census.
