NSCDC holds maiden Security Workshop for personnel in the Northeast in Maiduguri.

The Federal government says it is repositioning the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps NSCDC to take it’s prime place in the internal security architecture of the country.

Minister of Interior Rauf Aregbesola stated this during a three day workshop on Security Empowerment for officers of Corps in the Northeast held in Maiduguri.

The Minister of Interoir Rauf Aregbesola said the workshop is part of activities designed to physically, psychologically and morally equip the personnel of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps to perform optimally.

Represented by the Permanent Secretary Dr Shuaib Belgore, the Minister explained that the current leadership of the Corps has now focused on implementing programs aimed at improving the welfare and well-being of officers and men of the Service.

He charged the participants to use the workshop to learn new skills and innovation that will help them discharge their reaponsibilities.

The Minister commended Borno state government for the support in areas of material and logistics to the Corps.

Commandant General Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps Dr Ahmed Audi said the northeast region was selected for the maiden workshop due to the prevailing security situation in the region.

He observed that one of the major ways to curtail the rising insecurity is through human capital development for the enhancement of knowledge and competences of it’s personnel.

The Commandant General assured that the Corps will not relent in its effort to ensure the improvement of security to engender peace in the region and maintain effective synergy with other sister agencies.

Borno state Governor Professor Babagana Zulum represented by his Deputy Umar Kadafur explained that the workshop will greatly help in the resentment process.

According to him, the Corps is actively involved in the prevention of crime and criminality as well as facilitating the return of normalcy in the state.

The Governor expressed commitment of the state government to provide more support to the Civil Defence Corps of other security agencies in the state.
