The National Troupe of Nigeria, NTN has commenced a three-day Children’s Creative Station Workshop for ten selected secondary schools in Bauchi state with a view to acquainting the participants with the strategies of showcasing the country’s culture.
The initiative which is usually being carried out in Lagos and Abuja is sighted in Bauchi to exhibit its true essence as initiated by the NTN.
Addressing the participants at the opening of the workshop, the NTN Artistic Director and Chief Executive Officer, Ahmed Mohammed Ahmed said the programme was a three-week activity starting with the workshop which is expected to prepare the children’s mind on how to go about it.
Ahmed Ahmed enjoined the participants to pay maximum attention to what they would be taught for them to clearly grasp the message.
The UNICEF Chief of Field Office Bauchi, Mr. Tushar Rane who assured readiness to partner the National Troupe of Nigeria and the state government towards portraying the country’s culture, said the workshop was apt in view of the role being played by education in children.
Declaring the workshop open, the State Commissioner for Education Dr. Aliyu Tilde represented by the Director Planning A’isha Aminu Ahmad assured the ministry’s commitment to provide an enabling environment for culture to thrive in schools so as to showcase Nigeria’s diversity.
The theme of the Workshop is “Unity in Diversity”.
